Mass on TV

The Diocese of Duluth sponsors a televised Mass at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on WDIO-Duluth and WIRT-Hibbing. Cathedral Christmas cards

Keep Christ in Christmas with the new Cathedral Christmas cards that the Knights of Columbus will be selling in the narthex at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary after Mass as long as supplies last. Christmas tree, wreath sale

Christmas trees and wreaths are for sale at St. Michael’s Church, 4901 E. Superior St., Duluth. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Norway pine, balsam fir, white pine and spruce trees along with holiday wreaths and sprays are available. Net proceeds go to the 2020 Fund to help pay for church and school maintenance needs. Christmas cookie bake sale

The Holy Rosary Society of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, is baking and selling Christmas cookies, including a gluten-free option, as a fundraiser. Please visit the church website at www.stmarystaroftheseaduluth.com to locate an order form (look under the Parish Activities tab) or call the office at (218) 722-3078. Orders are taken through Dec. 11. If cookies are left after the orders are filled, they will be sold after the Masses on Dec. 13 and 14.

Women’s program

Immaculate Heart Church, Crosslake, and St. Emily Church, Emily, are hosting the Women of Grace Study Program “Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life.” The program runs through March 2015, and is held at Immaculate Heart Church, 35208 County Road 37, Crosslake. The group meets every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and begins with coffee and a light breakfast. The cost is $50 for materials. Scholarships are available. Babysitting is also a possibility. Latin Mass

St. Benedict’s Church, 1419 St. Benedict St., Duluth, prays the Latin ordinary form of the Mass the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. Also at St. Benedict’s, the Traditional Latin Mass is prayed the first and third Sundays at 1 p.m.

Rosary for freedom, life, family

Retreat center open house

An open house will be held at the Bulldog Lake Craft and Retreat Center, 1182 County Road 8, Hillman (3 miles south of Pine Center, 13 miles north of Hillman), Saturday, Dec. 6, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wine tasting, appetizers, 20 craft vendors, make-n-takes, demos, prizes. The center has nine bedrooms, six baths, large gathering space and prayer space, all on a private lake. Book a retreat during the open house and receive 20 percent off. Catholic Singles Group

Catholic Singles Group in the Twin Ports hosts weekly events and meets for brunch every other week as well as attends swing and folk dance lessons. Activities in December include Bentleyville tour, Nutcracker ballet, Fairlawn Mansion tour, Rose Ensemble performance and dinner at various restaurants. KC pancake breakfast

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, 8 a.m. to noon, at St. John’s Church, 4230 St. John’s Ave., Duluth. Adults $6, youth 12 to 5 years $3 and children under 5 free.

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the sick is available the first Sunday of the month at 9:15 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Church, 315 S.W. 21st St., Grand Rapids, in the church. This sacrament is offered for those struggling with an illness of any kind. All are welcome to receive this sacrament of healing at any time during an illness or struggle. Anointing is always available during the month by calling the church at (218) 326-2843. Also, healing prayer is offered the second Sunday of every month at 9:15 a.m., in the church. Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy followed by the rosary is prayed for religious freedom, respect for life and family, and freedom of conscience of all people of faith on all Mondays at 3 p.m., at St. Mary’s Hospital chapel, 407 E. Fourth St., Duluth. For questions call (218) 343-2404.

Kateri Circle

NFP introductory sessions

Northland Family Programs will hold free natural family planning introductory sessions at different sites at 7 p.m., on Mondays: in Cloquet, Dec. 8, at Community Memorial Hospital; in Hibbing, Dec. 8, in the Board Room at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi; in Superior, Wis., Dec. 15, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Women’s Bible study

A women’s study group at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, will study Mary using the book “Mary, Virgin, Mother, and Queen: a Bible Study Guide for Catholics,” by Jesuit Father Mitch Pacwa. Communion and Liberation

Communion and Liberation is an international Catholic movement that helps participants have a daily experience of faith. Rosaries for life

Every Wednesday at 8 a.m., two rosaries are prayed at St. Charles Parish, 308 Central Ave., Cass Lake, for an end to abortion and all crimes against life. Everyone is invited. For more information call Mary Rients at (218) 444-6209.

Adoration

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, 57 Horn Blvd., Silver Bay. Adoration begins after the 8:15 a.m. Mass and continues until 3 p.m. Call the parish office (218) 226-3100 for information.

Rosary

The rosary will be prayed at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 2002 Minnesota Ave., Park Point, Duluth, weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. A petition basket will be available for special prayer intentions placed before the Blessed Mother. M’Cafe for mothers

M’Cafe is a group for mothers of children 0-12 years of age. They meet the second Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at All Saints Church, 16898 Carlson Lake Road, Baxter. Child care is provided. Its mission is to provide fellowship with insightful discussion on topics that are relevant to the mother’s vocation in life. Moms Group

St. James Catholic Moms Group meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month through May 28, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in St. James School, 715 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth. Traditional Catholic parenting in today’s secular world will be discussed using the Blessed Mother as a model. Mothers of all ages are welcome. Lessons are from “Momnipotent,” by Danielle Bean. On Friday, Dec. 12, there will be a celebration of the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth. CHUM holiday concert

CHUM of Duluth will have its holiday concert Saturday, Dec. 13. Performers include Echoes of Peace Choir, Ripple Effect, Bill Bastian and the Hope Choir and Esperanza! Chimes and more yet to be scheduled. This is a seasonal fundraiser for CHUM. There are no tickets, and admission is free. There is a freewill offering. KC pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus, Western Council 5142, will hold a pancake breakfast Sunday, Dec. 14, 9 a.m. to noon, at St. James Parish Hall, 721 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth. Handicapped accessible. St. Charles Church, 308 Central Ave., Cass Lake, has one young man in the seminary, Beau Braun. Public square rosary

Our Lady of Fatima, Garrison, and Holy Family, Bulldog Lake, hold a Public Square Rosary on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m., near the big walleye fish at the lookout on Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison (Highway 169). All are invited to join in prayer. The rosary is prayed for the intentions of our Blessed Mother; the conversion of sinners; and to reconcile ourselves, our families and our nation back to God. Mass for moms and babies

Mass is offered in the chapel of the Women’s Care Center, 103 E. First St., Duluth, on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m., with a Holy Hour to follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Mass is offered for the work of the center and for moms and babies in crisis in our community. Diocesan confirmation retreat

Diocesan confirmation overnight retreats will be held Feb. 27-28 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, and April 17-18 at Holy Rosary School, 2802 E. Fourth St., Duluth. Theology of the Body teen retreat

The diocesan TOBIT (Theology of the Body for Teens) Retreat theme this year is “Discover God’s Plan for Love and Life!” The retreat is for students in grades 9-12. Delve into St. John Paul II’s teaching on Theology of the Body. Mass, talks, adoration, praise and worship, confession, games, sledding, bonfire, friends and small groups fill the weekend. Grand breakfast

Holy Angels Church, 60 Hartman Drive, Moose Lake, will host its Grand Breakfast on Sunday, March 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. All-you-can-eat. JRLC Day on the Hill

JRLC (Joint Religious Legislative Coalition) Day on the Hill is Tuesday, March 10. Online registration now open. You may register four additional people under your registration.
