Christmas bazaar

St. Louis Church in Floodwood will hold its Christmas bazaar Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Floodwood Fair Building (across from Bridgeman’s on Main Street). Hot turkey sandwich lunch with the fixings served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crafts, baked goods, home canning, basket raffle and big raffle. Handicapped accessible.

Christmas tree sale

The 28th annual Christmas tree sale at St. Michael’s Church, 4901 E. Superior St., Duluth, is in progress. High quality spruce, balsam fir, Norway pine and white pine trees, with Christmas wreaths and sprays available. Weekdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All net proceeds go to help with parish buildings and grounds maintenance needs. Rosary for freedom, life, family

KC fellowship

The Knights of Columbus Council 6791 and St. Teresa Circle of St. Raphael’s Church, 5779 Seville Road, Duluth, sponsors coffee, juice, donuts and fellowship after Masses the first Saturday and Sunday weekend of each month.

Pancake breakfast

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, Sunday, Dec. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon. Adults $6 and children under 12 $3. Take-outs and gluten free will be available.

Mass on TV

The Diocese of Duluth sponsors a televised Mass at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on WDIO-Duluth and WIRT-Hibbing. Benedictine open house

The Benedictine sisters invite all to an open house Sunday, Dec. 6, in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life. Spend time with the sisters, celebrate their many ministries and history, and enjoy music and art. Anointing of the sick

Anointing of the sick is available the first Sunday of the month at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 315 S.W. 21st St., Grand Rapids. All are welcome to receive this sacrament of healing at any time during an illness or struggle. Anointing is always available during the month by calling the church at (218) 326-2843. Also, healing prayer is offered the second Sunday of the month at 9:15 a.m. in the church. Handicapped accessible.

‘Lectio divina’

“Lectio Divina,” a Latin term meaning “divine reading,” describes a way of reading the Scriptures whereby one gradually let go of one’s own agenda and open oneself to what God wants to say. A group meets in the St. Lawrence Church parish office from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on most Sundays during the school year. For more information contact Pat at (218) 729-7576.

Polka Mass, Slovenian dinner

St. Joseph’s Church, Summit Street and Louisiana Avenue, Gilbert, will host a Polka Mass and St. Nicholas Honor Day celebration Sunday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m.

Christmas bazaar

Holy Family Church Christmas bazaar will be held at tribal headquarters on Big Lake Road in Cloquet Sunday, Dec. 6, from noon to 5 p.m. Main drawings include cash drawings amounting to $10,000, TV with DVD player and 12 movies, $500 gas cards, four-piece luggage and many more drawings. Bake sale and cherry tree for children. Roast beef dinner served to eat in or carry-out.

Bible study

Communion and Liberation

Communion and Liberation is an international Catholic movement that helps participants have a daily experience of faith. Rosaries for life

Life in the Spirit seminar

A Life in the Spirit seminar is held Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth. It includes prayer, teaching, songs and refreshments. Rosary

Adoration

Monastic life in Advent

The sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery invite unmarried Catholic women age 18-50 to experience and explore the rhythm of the monastic life of prayer and work during the quiet of the Advent season. Catholic moms group

St. James Catholic moms group discusses traditional Catholic parenting in today’s secular world. Using the Blessed Mother as a model, everyday issues important for families today is discussed. Come for prayer, fellowship and study. Mothers of all ages are welcome from first time moms to grandmas. Benedictine Oblates

The meetings of the Benedictine Oblates are open to inquirers. This month, the group considers hope as a virtue and a practice. Living In Recovery Seminar

A Living In Recovery Seminar is held the third Tuesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McCabe Renewal Center, 2125 Abbotsford Ave., Duluth. Newcomers are always welcome. This group works on ongoing life management issues such as spirituality, emotional recovery, forgiveness, relationships, healing and understanding recovery as a daily “way of life.” At least six months’ recovery from an addiction or a completed treatment process is preferred for attendance. Facilitator: Benedictine Sister Pauline Micke, spiritual director. Sister Pauline was a licensed counselor for nine years working with people with addiction and dual addictions and has a master’s degree in theology. Suggested freewill offering $5 per session. Breakfast fundraiser

Father Solanus Casey Fraternity

The Father Solanus Casey Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order meets the third Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 2430 W. 3rd St., Duluth (lower level). Public square rosary

Our Lady of Fatima, Garrison, and Holy Family, Bulldog Lake, hold a Public Square Rosary the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. near the big walleye fish at the lookout on Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison (Highway 169). All are invited to join in prayer. The rosary is prayed for the intentions of our Blessed Mother, the conversion of sinners, and to reconcile ourselves, our families and our nation back to God. The first Thursday of the month 24-hour adoration is celebrated from 8:30 a.m. Thursday until 7:50 a.m. Friday at Our Lady’s Chapel at Immaculate Heart Church, 35208 County Road, Crosslake. A cancer support group is held at Blessed Sacrament parish, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Call Mary at (218) 262-5541 for information. These meetings are for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

Youth ministers Meet the first Tuesday of the month. Meetings held at the Diocese of Duluth, 2830 E. Fourth St., Duluth, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Coffee and rolls are served beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is provided. No cost for the day. TOBIT

The TOBIT (Theology of the Body Immersion for Teens) retreat will be held Jan. 15–17 at Big Sandy Camp near McGregor. Delve deep into St. John Paul II’s teaching on Theology of the Body and some of the deepest questions of human existence, such as: What is the meaning of Life? Why did God create us male and female? What kind of joys await us in heaven? Why is there evil and how do we overcome it? and How do we experience the love we long for? Mass, talks, adoration, praise and worship, confession, games, sledding, bonfire, small groups. Time of retreat: 6 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Sunday (times may be adjusted). Pilgrimage to Italy

Diocesan confirmation retreats will be held Feb. 19-20 at Holy Rosary School, 2802 E. Fourth St., Duluth, registration deadline Feb. 8; and April 8-9 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, registration deadline March 21. Retreat begins at 7 p.m. Friday and closes after Saturday Mass at the hosting parish. Registration fees: $35 per student before registration deadline, $40 per student after registration deadline. No cost for chaperones. Due to the capacity on retreats, registration is received on a first come, first served basis. World Youth Day pilgrimage

World Youth Day Pilgrimage 2016 will be in Krakow, Poland, from July 19-31, 2016. World Youth Day is a vibrant week long pilgrimage where young Catholics from all over the world come together to join with the pope to pray, celebrate and reflect.
