Mass on TV

The Diocese of Duluth sponsors a televised Mass at 9:30 a.m., every Sunday from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on WDIO-Duluth and WIRT-Hibbing. Women’s program

Immaculate Heart Church, Crosslake, and St. Emily Church, Emily, are hosting the Women of Grace Study Program “Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life.” The program runs through March and is held at Immaculate Heart Church, 35208 County Road 37, Crosslake. The group meets Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and begins with coffee and a light breakfast. The cost is $50 for materials. Scholarships are available. Babysitting is also a possibility. Latin Mass

St. Benedict’s Church, 1419 St. Benedict St., Duluth, prays the Latin ordinary form of the Mass the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. Also at St. Benedict’s, the Traditional Latin Mass is prayed the first and third Sundays at 1 p.m.

Rosary for freedom, life, family

The rosary is prayed for religious freedom, respect of life and the family on Saturdays at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth, at 10 a.m. Contact the Cathedral at (218) 728-3646 for information.

Catholic Singles Group

Catholic Singles Group in the Twin Ports hosts weekly events and meets for brunch every other week. KC fellowship

The St. Raphael’s Knights of Columbus Council 6791 and St. Teresa Circle of St. Raphael’s Church, 5779 Seville Road, Duluth, sponsors coffee, juice, donuts and fellowship after Masses on the first Saturday and Sunday weekend of each month.

Pancake breakfast

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the sick is available the first Sunday of the month at 9:15 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Church, 315 S.W. 21st St., Grand Rapids, in the church. This sacrament is offered for those struggling with an illness. All are welcome to receive this sacrament of healing at any time during an illness or struggle. Anointing is always available during the month by calling the church at (218) 326-2843. Also, healing prayer is offered the second Sunday of every month at 9:15 a.m., in the church. Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy followed by the rosary is prayed for religious freedom, respect for life and family, and freedom of conscience of all people of faith Mondays at 3 p.m., at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel, 407 E. Fourth St., Duluth. For questions call (218) 343-2404.

Women’s Bible study

A women’s study group at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, is studying Mary using the book “Mary, Virgin, Mother, and Queen: a Bible Study Guide for Catholics,” by Jesuit Father Mitch Pacwa. Communion and Liberation

Communion and Liberation is an international Catholic movement that helps participants have a daily experience of faith. Rosaries for life

Wednesdays at 8 a.m. two rosaries are prayed at St. Charles Parish, 308 Central Ave., Cass Lake, for an end to abortion and all crimes against life. Everyone is invited. For more information call Mary Rients at (218) 444-6209.

Adoration

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place Wednesdays at St. Mary’s Church, 57 Horn Blvd., Silver Bay. Adoration begins after the 8:15 a.m. Mass and continues until 3 p.m. Call the parish office (218) 226-3100 for information.

Rosary

Holy hour for vocations

St. Francis Church, 404 Ninth St. N., Brainerd, has a holy hour for vocations in the Brainerd-area churches the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Call the church for information at (218) 822-4040.

Vocation opportunity

What Is “The Consecrated Life”? Could it be for you? During this special year in which the church focuses on the meaning and role of women and men who accept Christ’s invitation to leave all and follow him, single Catholic women ages 21-50 who wish to learn more about such a vocation are invited to pay a visit to the Benedictine sisters at St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth. You may arrange for a consultation, a private retreat or a short weekend visit in which you would have time to pray with, visit the sisters and learn about the vocation to religious life and have your questions answered. M’Cafe for mothers

M’Cafe is a group for mothers of children 0-12 years of age. It meets the second Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at All Saints Church, 16898 Carlson Lake Road, Baxter. Child care is provided. Its mission is to provide fellowship with insightful discussion on topics that are relevant to the mother’s vocation in life. Moms Group

St. James Catholic Moms Group meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month through May 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in St. James School, 715 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth. Traditional Catholic parenting in today’s secular world will be discussed using the Blessed Mother as a model. Mothers of all ages are welcome. Lessons are from “Momnipotent,” by Danielle Bean. Cancer support group

A cancer support group is held at Blessed Sacrament parish, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Call Mary at (218) 262-5541 for information. These meetings are for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

Tridentine Mass

Youth ministers meeting

Diocesan youth ministers will meet Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth, in the multi-purpose room in the basement. Anam Cara program

The Anam Cara program at St. Lawrence Church in Duluth will be using the book “Falling Upward, A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life” by Richard Rohr, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 9:30 a.m., at the church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. Theology of the Body teen retreat

The diocesan TOBIT (Theology of the Body for Teens) Retreat theme this year is “Discover God’s Plan for Love and Life!” The retreat is for students in grades 9-12. Delve into St. John Paul II’s teaching on Theology of the Body. Mass, talks, adoration, praise and worship, confession, games, sledding, bonfire, friends and small groups fill the weekend. Breakfast fundraiser

St. Charles Church, 308 Central Ave., Cass Lake, has one young man in the seminary, Beau Braun. The ladies of the parish host a freewill offering breakfast the third Sunday of each month after the 9 a.m. Mass. Proceeds will go toward assisting in his education expenses. The annual holy hour to pray for the sanctity of life will be held at 2 p.m., Jan. 18, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth. Sponsored by the Women’s Care Center. All are welcome to join in prayer.

Courage, EnCourage

Do you have a family member or loved one who is experiencing same-sex attraction? Consider joining EnCourage, a support group for Catholics seeking to balance the love of their faith with the love for their family member. Duluth-Superior Catholic Young Adults (DSCYA) is seeking to provide opportunities to grow in faith and connect with other young adults. Living In Recovery Seminar

Living In Recovery Seminar is held the third Tuesday of every month beginning Jan. 20, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at McCabe Renewal Center, 2125 Abbotsford Ave., Duluth. Newcomers are always welcome. This group works on ongoing life management issues such as spirituality, emotional recovery, forgiveness, relationships, healing and understanding recovery as a daily “way of life.” At least six months’ recovery from an addiction or a completed treatment process is preferred for attendance. Facilitator: Sister Pauline Micke, OSB, master’s degree in theology, spiritual director. Sister Pauline was a licensed counselor for nine years working with people with addiction and dual addictions. Winter prayer retreat

“Winter Prayer Retreat: Coming Home to Blessing” will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 9 a.m. to noon, at St. Scholastica Monastery, 1001 Kenwood Ave., Duluth. Freewill offering. Public square rosary

Our Lady of Fatima, Garrison, and Holy Family, Bulldog Lake, hold a Public Square Rosary the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m., near the big walleye fish at the lookout on Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison (Highway 169). All are invited to join in prayer. The rosary is prayed for the intentions of our Blessed Mother, the conversion of sinners and to reconcile ourselves, our families and our nation back to God. Mass for moms and babies

Mass is offered in the chapel of the Women’s Care Center, 103 E. First St., Duluth, the fourth Tuesday of each month. Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m., with a Holy Hour to follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Mass is offered for the work of the center and for moms and babies in crisis in the community. Mardi Gras dance, auction

Queen of Peace School, 102 Fourth St., Cloquet, will hold its Mardi Gras dance 22and silent auction fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 14, 6 p.m. to midnight. Come join the fun evening of music, dance with D.J., complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages, door prizes, raffles, and silent and live auctions. Diocesan confirmation overnight retreats will be held Feb. 27-28, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, and April 17-18, at Holy Rosary School, 2802 E. Fourth. St., Duluth. Registration fee is $35 if registered by Feb. 13 and April 2, late registrations are $40. Parish staff should register all students. Students, contact your parish to register. Grand breakfast

Holy Angels Church, 60 Hartman Drive, Moose Lake, will host its Grand Breakfast Sunday, March 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. All-you-can-eat. JRLC Day on the Hill

JRLC (Joint Religious Legislative Coalition) Day on the Hill is Tuesday, March 10. Online registration now open. You may register four additional people under your registration. Registrants can pay by using a Paypal account or by using a credit card on the lower portion of the Paypal payment page.
