To the editor:
Judging from the responses I’m hearing, the Men’s and Women’s Conferences were quite a hit. I heard the excitement of one of my lay Carmelite friends. She said, “Gail, there was a great talk that used stories of some of our Carmelite saints” (St. Teresa of Avila and Saint Therese of Lisieux).
As I reflected on those comments and read the article in The Northern Cross, I felt proud and blessed to be a lay Carmelite. I’m writing this letter to let other Catholics that might feel called to become a lay Carmelite know that we do have a third order Carmelite community that meets monthly in Hinckley at St. Patrick’s Church.
I think it is time to share the fruits of this community, the fruits of learning about Catholic saints and practicing their examples of contemplative prayer.
If interested, or in need of more information about our third order Carmelite community, you can contact me at (320) 384-7305. We meet monthly on the second Tuesday of the month from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
