Guiding Star announces center in Twin Cities
Wakota Life Care Center announced in October that it has signed an affiliation agreement with the Guiding Star Project to become the first Guiding Star Center in the Twin Cities metro area. This comes after many months of exploration and discussions between the Twin Cities Guiding Star Board, the Guiding Star Project and the Wakota Life Care Center Board. The announcement was made during Wakota’s 40th anniversary celebration at the Church of St. Joseph in West St. Paul. This affiliation will expand Wakota’s current services in the core areas of Natural Fertility Care and family planning, pregnancy and childbirth, breastfeeding and postpartum support, and family life support. “For the past 40 years, we’ve been proud to serve thousands of families in need of support before, during and after pregnancy by providing a variety of services including access to prenatal care, material assistance, robust community referrals, and much more. This affiliation means that we can immediately offer an expanded palette of services and greater access to resources that our clients have asked for,” said Ginny Cronin, executive director of Wakota Life Care Center. The Guiding Star Project seeks to connect and expand existing organizations that are focused on authentic women’s health to increase services available to women in one convenient location. All women are welcome. The Guiding Star Project is establishing Guiding Star Centers across the country. Guiding Star’s first fully operational center was opened in Tampa, Florida, in 2015.
