Catholic Daughters donate to Care Partners

Regent Linnea Ryan presented a donation to Tasia Hoag, Care Partners executive director. The funds were raised at the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Margaret 1888 recent Festival of Tables. Care Partners gives financial aid to families facing cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

Blascyk retires

Northland Family Programs has recently said good-bye to Kathy Blascyk, director of NFP for 11 years. She began her work with NFP as a practitioner in 1982, served as staff supervisor for many years, and took on the additional position of director in 2007. Blascyk said, “I will miss everyone and especially all the wonderful couples I have been blessed to work with. It has been a joy to teach and work with them as they learn the Creighton Model Fertility- Care System.” Blascyk will retire after 36 years of service to the organization. The new director is Anna Crain, who was introduced to NFP in 2012. Crain will take over the duties of director in January 2018.

Novena of Masses for Life

The Hibbing Deanery will host a Novena of Masses for Life 2018. Everyone is invited to attend any or all Masses to build a culture of life.

Catholic United Financial foundation gives grants

Catholic United Financial gives technology and chastity and abstinence grants twice each year through its foundation. In March 2017, the following received grants: St. James Church, Aitkin — $500 chastity and abstinence; Brainerd Lakes Catholic Churches — $500 chastity and abstinence; Our Mother of Good Counsel Home School Co-op, Crosby/Ironton — $250 technology; Holy Family Church, Mc- Gregor — $250 technology; and St. Agnes Church, Walker — $250 technology. This past November the following received grants: St. Joseph, Crosby, and St. Joseph, Deerwood — $1,000 chastity and abstinence; St. Agnes, Walker, and Sacred Heart, Hackensack — $750 chastity and abstinence; St. Paul, Longville, and St. Edward, Remer — $500 technology; and St. Andrew’s, Brainerd — $500 technology. Catholic United Financial awards these grants for the entire Duluth Diocese and the five states that it operates in, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
