Hauer named Stella Maris interim president
The Stella Maris Academy Board in Duluth announced last month that Hilaire Hauer will be serving as the interim president. Hauer has been instrumental to the success during the Called To Be One planning process. Hauer earned a Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth with extensive experience leading organizational process improvement, supporting organizational change, and educating at a corporate level. She currently serves on the Leadership Council for UMD Newman Catholic Campus Ministry, as a high school faith formation small group leader, and as trustee of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Additionally, Hauer served as co-chair of the Called To Be One planning committee and as vice chair of the Stella Maris Academy board. An interim vice chair of the board will be appointed while Hauer fulfills the role of interim president.
Mascot, crest announced
The Stella Maris Academy board in Duluth has approved and adopted a new school crest and mascot design. Reminiscent of the Shield of Faith, the crest represents the Star of the Sea through the Marian M and offset star. The cross and sword stand for our role as defenders of our faith. The mascot design represents strength, guardianship, and vigilance. As the name implies, the image signifies defenders or watchmen of the faith, those who guard, protect, and preserve. In conjunction with the “Stella Maris” name, it is said that the Virgin Mary intercedes for us as a guide and protector — our “guardian.”
