The Minnesota Catholic Conference, which is the public policy arm of the Catholic bishops of Minnesota, is planning a “Statewide Day of Fasting and Prayer in Reparation for a Culture of Violence and Disrespect for Human Life” in December.
Part of the impetus behind the event is the series of undercover investigative videos put out by the Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life activist group, which have disturbed many people and seem to call for a positive response from the church.
The event will cover other issues, as well, emphasizing the Catholic Church’s “consistent ethic of life.” It will also be taking place during the Advent season, a time of awaiting the coming of Jesus Christ. And it is hoped that the event will bring Minnesota Catholics together to stand against violence in all its forms.
Although it is a statewide event, each diocese is making its own plans for the event. Details are still pending for marking the day, but watch the diocesan website or follow the Diocese of Duluth on Facebook for all the details as they become available.
