“Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls” — Mother Teresa
Can you believe another year has already gone by? We thank God for the blessings he has bestowed upon us over the last year and trust that he will continue to abundantly bless us.
As the 2016 United Catholic Appeal kicks off, let us continue to focus on the good that surrounds us daily within our church here in northeastern Minnesota.
This year’s theme is a quote by Mother Teresa: “Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.” This summarizes the way in which we should operate as Christians. Jesus gave us the joy of the Gospel, and it is that same joy that will ultimately attract souls for Christ.
When we look back at the early church, we see the apostles traveling and preaching to all the ends of the earth. They were madly in love with the faith, and they just had to tell others about the gift and miracle of Jesus Christ!
That is where the UCA comes in. We have the honor of sharing the good news of our faith. Much of that begins in our own home or parish, but much of it also comes from our diocesan ministries. From forming youth through retreats to forming adults through conferences, our diocesan ministries equip our church with tools to “catch souls.” Not only that, the UCA also allows our doors to remain open and our organization effective.
This year, we are especially excited to offer you all a new piece to the UCA material — a UCA video! You can find the video up on the diocesan website at www.dioceseduluth.org.
Your UCA gift will be used for the day-to-day ministries of the bishop and not legal settlements. Thank you in advance for your generosity, and may God bless you!
