May 25 marked the deadline for filing claims of sexual abuse of minors under an agreement entered into as part of the bankruptcy process for the Diocese of Duluth. Duluth Bishop Paul D. Sirba issued a statement here. The bishops of Minnesota have also released a statement on the end of the three-year lifting of the statute of limitations for civil suits on sexual abuse cases. WORLD YOUTH DAY: Pilgrims from the Diocese of Duluth will travel to World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, from July 19-31, 2016.
DIOCESAN ASSEMBLY: The 11th annual Diocesan Assembly will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Marshall School in Duluth. The speaker will be Sherry Weddell on “Making Disciples.” The assembly is open to everyone. For more information or to register, click here.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: In an important ruling touching on religious liberty issues, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby, which was challenging part of the contraceptive mandate of the Affordable Care Act.
