"Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls." - Mother Teresa
The United Catholic Appeal is our yearly, major fundraising effort to support many of the important educational, spiritual, and service ministries our diocese offers. All Catholics throughout the diocese are asked to support the appeal with their prayers and financial resources. As Catholics, we know that each one of us is called to support the ministries of our Church. Our gifts make it possible for our ten-county diocese to provide vital services to the spiritual and physical wellbeing of men, women, and children in Northeastern Minnesota. Our contributions are also our response to the Bible’s call to stewardship – to be generous with what we have received from God, who is the true owner. Donations to the UCA are made through your local parish.
LETTER FROM BISHOP SIRBA
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His mercy endures forever!
As the Year of Mercy unfolds, we celebrate the true meaning of what it means to be a follower of Christ. We take this time to reflect and know that this is a time for forgiveness and reconciliation, as Jesus has promised unconditional love for all who believe in Him. There is no doubt that during this time of reorganization, our mission of spreading the joy of the Gospel does not stop. The Catholic Church has remained steadfast through the ages, and its good words will continue in the Diocese of Duluth thanks to you, our faithful.
Nothing can take away our joy as daughters and sons of Christ, and it is that joy that will evangelize and attract souls as professed in this year’s theme: “Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.” Let us spread joy and be mindful of what it means to be Christian. Our mission of love and faithfulness to Jesus always continues forward.
During this Year of Mercy, may we remember God’s providence and pray for His blessing upon us.
God bless you, Bishop Paul D. Sirba
