Relics of St. Thomas More, St. John Fisher coming during Fortnight for Freedom

The relics of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher will be coming to Minnesota this summer, including a stop at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, June 27.

The two saints exemplified courage and conviction in the face of persecution. Both were prominent 16th century Englishmen who stood against King Henry VIII’s attempted supremacy over the Catholic Church and accepted martyrdom instead of abandoning their faith. This fearless witness is especially compelling to American Catholics today, as they face threats to religious liberty and rights of conscience.

The relic tour is part of the broader Fortnight for Freedom, an outreach of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops emphasizing religious liberty that begins on the saints’ shared feast day, June 21, and lasts until Independence Day, July 4. The tour includes other stops in Minnesota. Come to learn more about the lives of these saints, ask for their prayers, and be inspired by their example.
