Schools in brief

Thank you

The Office of Catholic Schools and the Diocese of Duluth offer thanks for your generous gifts to the Schulze Family Foundation Matching Grant fundraiser. The diocese reached its goal and will now be blessed with $100,000 for resources to benefit Catholic school students and staff. The innovative plans for the schools will be impactful beyond any projects done in the past. Your generosity strengthens academic programs and empowers efforts for evangelizing for discipleship. Most importantly, our mission aims to invite more families to consider the gift of a Catholic education. May the Lord’s great love bless you this Christmas and in the new year.

Eucharistic miracle exhibit

Earlier this winter, the middle schoolers at Stella Maris Academy learned about the incredible life of Blessed Carlo Acutis and his special eucharistic miracle project. Blessed Carlo (1991-2006) was an Italian teen and computer wiz who created a website dedicated to sharing the many eucharistic miracles that have occurred throughout the world. This website was adapted into a poster exhibit detailing the miracles. The exhibit was displayed at both St. James and St. John’s campuses for students to view and learn more about the miracles. The posters were purchased and organized by a generous parishioner of St.John’s Church. A few of the students’ favorite miracles were Lanciano (750), Salzano (1517), Tumaco (1906), Tixtla (2006), and Sokolka (2008). For more information, visit Blessed Carlo’s website www.miracolieucaristici.org or contact Jenny Boran at [email protected] about the exhibit.

St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School, Brainerd, has had a great start to its robotics year. On Dec. 4, the middle school had its first competition of the season in St. Cloud. The boys have worked hard and put in a lot of time and effort, and it paid off with Team B taking first place and Team A taking second. Team B also placed second in skills with Team A taking third.
